Bloomsburg Downs Clarion in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG - Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) netted 22 points as the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team downed Clarion University 72-61 in a Sunday afternoon Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover game.

In total, five Bloomsburg players scored in double-digits as the Huskies moved to 4-3 on the season.

Bloomsburg started off the game with a team technical foul and Clarion converted one of two free throws to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead before the clock started. The Huskies shook off the early deficit and went on a 10-0 run backed by two three-pointers from Laura Lyons (Hatfield/Pennridge) as Bloomsburg lead 10-1 at the 17-minute mark.

With 10 minutes to play in the half, Clarion's Jessica Albanese scored four straight points to cut the lead to 20-18 in favor of the Huskies. However, Bloomsburg used a 13-4 run at the end of the half to go into the locker room with a 33-22 lead.

In the second half, Bloomsburg took its largest lead of the game on a three-pointer from Miskinis that put the Huskies up 17-points at 59-42 with just under six minutes to play.

Clarion pilled to within nine points on a three from My'Kea Cohill with eight seconds to play, but Bloomburg's Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD/Archbishop Carroll) hit two free throws to seal the 11 point win for the Huskies.

Cohill lead the Golden Eagles (1-3) with 15 points while Albanese had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Miskinis lead all scorers with 22 while Lee added 16 points. Kirby Johnson (Woodstown/Woodstown) and Lyons each netted 11 points and Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) rounded out the Huskies' scorers with 10 points on the day.

Bloomsburg will next travel to Fairmont State in West Virginia on December 9th for a 2:00 tip-off.
